REMINDERS

* Registered delegates must wear their VRPS badge and present their VRPS Conference Social Ticket (cost included in full registration fee) or guest ticket at the door.

* Non-registered guests may purchase event tickets at the Conference Registration Desk in the Presidents Ballroom lobby during scheduled registration hours.

* Many socials will have a cash bar available:  MUST SHOW VALID ID FOR DRINK PURCHASES!

* Grab & Go food stations will be available Monday & Tuesday mornings 6:30-9:30am in the Promenade, outside the President's Ballroom.  Attendees may purchase assorted and individually priced breakfast items.

MONDAY, September 9
2013 Annual Conference Exhibit Hall
  • Delegate Registration will be 7am-5pm in the President's Ballroom Lobby.
  • Directors Forum meets 9:45-10:45am.
  • VRPS Expo includes luncheon, silent auction, interactive exhibit booths, and raffles 11:15am-2:15pm.
  • Service Areas meet 5:30-6pm.
  • Awards reception takes place 6:30-7pm, followed by the banquet 7-9pm. 
  • 9:30pm-12am REC it Out!  Wrap it Up! in Pitchers Sports Bar, located in the hotel, is hosted by the VRPS Service Areas.

Aquatics Resource Group at 2013 Annual Conference 
  • Delegate Registration will be 7:30am-11:30am in the President's Ballroom Lobby.

OPENING SESSION RECAP

Keynote Dr. John Crompton presented information on the six eras of the parks and recreation department, stating that every department is in one of these eras.  His session touched on the progression from program-focused to user-benefit-focused and then to community-benefit-focused departments.  The address left Delegates thinking about how to position their departments in today's reality of tight budgets. 

Current VRPS President, Katey Legg, CPRP presented five President's Awards to members who have exhibited outstanding service to the society over the past year.  Congratulations to:

The 2014 VRPS Annual Conference committee welcomes our host of the 60th VRPS conference, the Omni Homestead, to James City County. Be sure to have BUSINESS CARD IN HAND  when you visit the exhibit hall, stop by the Homestead table, and enter for a drawing to win a 2 night stay for 2, including breakfast each morning and 2 rounds of golf for 2.  This can be used during 2014 (any date restrictions will be provided to the winner and cannot be redeemed during the 2014 VRPS Annual Conference dates). The winner will be announced during the VRPS 2012 Awards banquet Monday evening.
